Seriously loving your show all the way from wintery Wellington, New Zealand. Was taking notes even! Thank you and keep at it! Crucial and so very timely stuff. Incredible guests. Excellent facilitating.

The understory! I love this way of thinking about the underlying battles we’re waging.

Me too! Although maybe it's even deeper too, in the root system

Hello again. I am writing again as I, from your suggestion, downloaded and started listening to Amanda’s book High Conflict. I found myself unable to even finish the introduction and wanted to share why in case that furthers the possibility of growth of healthy debate and conflict.

To explain. In the early 90s I spent 7 years sailing on board Greenpeace boats and have deep experience both of the beginning and growth of the anti-genetically modified crops campaign (which actually was a “hold off and let’s be very careful about playing with nature and why” campaign) as well as (despicable frankly) Monstanto’s history.

Amanda I am not too sure whether you are reading this but just in case you are I am not sure why, if all High Conflict examples, you chose to focus on Mark (is he a real dude?) and chose to focus on his story the way you did.

To explain further or to share what I think might be my understory here:

Good gosh Mark’s actions were not responsible for the hunger crisis in Africa!!

Neither is GM corn its solution!

Monsanto also is not some good guy trying to solve the problems of the word but a company well documented to have caused the death (Agent Orange, cancer causing pesticides) of many a human in its “mistakes” which is continued to do.

Let’s us also not forget that Monsanto has created GM seeds that only last for one year which means that anyone that switches to their crops will forever depend on them for food!

I have been involved in the international environmental justice movement for 35 years know. Healthy conflict and non-violence is how we designed every single one of our campaigns. It only takes a look at any single issue we worked on today to realise we failed.

I am not promoting violence obviously. Violence is both a sick way to try to solve anything and it only begets violence which is where it fails ethically, morally, and spiritually.

But I do need to share here that after decades of healthy conflicting, I left the environmental movement because eco-sabotage started making very logical sense to me. I decided I needed a break.

I am sure your book has great things to share. I loved the way you guided Anya in this excellent conversation.

I needed to share here that I feel sad I am not going to be able to continue reading. I have experienced too many deaths of innocent people to be able to calmly digest anyone arguing that people like Mark are our collective problem and companies like Monsanto might be the good guys that sometimes “make mistakes” in their attempt to save us all.

Am sharing this in the hopes that something good might come out of it
